༺ ODORU-HA TOURNAMENT RULES ༻
Before applying as a fighter, you are required to read through these rules.

CHARACTER participation RULES
The rules are pretty loose considering this tournament is not meant to be overly strict, just general towards the aesthetic, but inclusive of the event.‣ Yes, non-Far-Eastern characters are allowed to participate so long as they utilize a Far-Eastern weapon. The follow weapons are allowed, focused on traditional samurai melee weapons:ALL FAR-EASTERN SWORDS (not limited to; there are too many for me to name but you get it):
• Katana / Tanto / Wakizashi
• Odachi / Nodachi / TachiALL FAR-EASTERN POLEARMS (not limited to):
• Naginata / Yari / GuandaoDual-wielding katana is allowed, but not polearms. That's too insane.Kunai, shuriken allowed as a secondary weapon. Not a main weapon and will not count as a point. For those of you with your dirty tricks.----------------Attacking or striking without a weapon will not count as a point. Striking your opponent with your weapon counts as a point.• Intended fatal blows are not tolerated, but blood is allowed to be spilled.• The usage of aether and "magic" is permitted to amplify attacks, but your weapon must strike in order to count as a point. We encourage having fun with writing your duels, add flavor and fluff, just follow the rules properly!
TOURNAMENT MECHANICS
The system is designed to enable both samurai more of a chance to land at least one strike, rather than finishing on one opponent left with no points. Written by NightRaid Network.Important to Note: The system has 6 fighters each day to extend the fighting festival to its fullest potential, for a total of 12 fighters across both days. This means the semi-finals have repeated faces. There is no third match in the opening round, or else there is going to be a stray fighter with no opponent. See the visual below as a reference.

The setup is always randomly generated.
ROLLING SYSTEM FUNCTION
Important Point: YOUR REFEREE IS GOING TO KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING IN /PARTY CHAT AND LET YOU KNOW OUTCOMES.Generally: You will emote your attack first, then roll to determine the outcome. To take into account the fact that horrible RNG exists, numbers within your /random roll will be added up.Example:
Attacker rolls: 297
Defender rolls: 912Attack > 2 + 9 + 7 = 18
Defense > 9 + 1 + 2 = 12Attack succeeds, point given.
--------
Attacker Rolls: 805
Defender Rolls: 194Attack > 8 + 0 + 5 = 13
Defense > 1+ 9 + 4 = 14Defense succeeds, no point given.
TENSION ROUND MECHANICS
Should both samurai FAIL to attack for ONE ROUND, there will be a Tension Round. The referee will ask both fighters to roll twice.FIRST ROLL: Both swordsmen will emote their POWER UP post, THEN roll.

SECOND ROLL: Both then emote your ATTACK ATTEMPT, then roll.

The HIGHEST AVERAGE between both rolls will win the Tension Round and earn a point. TENSIONS ROLLS ARE ADDED AS REGULAR NUMBERS. Again, the referee will direct fighters in the party chat to keep track of points, tension rounds, and so on.Example:Fighter #1 power-up roll: 453
Fighter #1 attack attempt roll: 560453 + 560 = 1,0131,013 / 2 = 506.5 (507 rounded up)------------------Fighter #2 power up roll: 799
Fighter #2 attack attempt roll: 22799 + 22 = 821821 / 2 = 410.5 (411 rounded up)----------------
Fighter #1 wins the Tension Round and earns a point.
Then the round picks up where it left off, based on the original fighting order. It does NOT automatically swap to the next fighter unless they are next in the order.

END OF MATCH
The max will be 8 rounds per fight until FINAL TENSION determines the winner. If a match trickles over an hour, a Final Tension may be called on the spot for time's sake. Please be mindful that each tournament day can run past 1:00am EST. By signing up, you understand that this is a possibility with your participation.First to three points against their opponent wins the match.
